Made in the USA

July rules smoky grills, poolside afternoons, and bursting fireworks—but we’re all in on another kind of celebration: National Hemp Month. First recognized in 2019, it honors the act that legalized hemp across the nation, from sea to shining sea.
To celebrate, we’re lighting up exactly what makes Charlotte’s Web™ different: American-grown hemp, spot-on manufacturing, and quality you can trust.
And you know we’ve got the science to back it up. After all, every Charlotte's Web™ product is tested by rigorous research and expert collaboration.
Behind the Curtain: Rigorous Research
Charlotte’s Web™ research specialists have partnered with leading research institutions and clinical experts to scientifically back each product. These institutions include:
-
The Center for Discovery, to develop hemp genetics for optimal growing in the Appalachian region (2019)
-
The University at Buffalo, to advance hemp cannabinoid science (2020)
-
University of Colorado‑Boulder’s REACH Center, to fully understand hemp's role in sleep and stress (2021)
-
McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, to discover the efficacy of a custom-formulated, hemp-derived product (2021)
-
DeFloria LLC to advance AJA001, a full-spectrum botanical drug made from our proprietary hemp and now in Phase 1 clinical trials. (2023)
The big reveal? Charlotte’s Web is serious about science. Our commitment to research means every product is supported by continuous innovation.
We deliver hemp extract that's proven, potent, and pure—from seed to shelf.
First Act: American Homegrown Farming
Charlotte’s Web™ hemp is 100% made in the USA—no shortcuts or overseas detours. Why’s that matter? Farmers in the U.S. are required to meet high standards.
We handpick our partners with the utmost care to cultivate our hemp using organic farming processes. Why? Because surface-level wellness has no substance. We dig deep for what’s real.
It all starts with a full farm assessment. During winter's pre-planting season, we:
- Evaluate crop rotation practices
- Screen for any history of pesticide use
- Inspect soil for heavy metals and water for microbes
- Analyze nutrient levels in the soil
- Rigorously test irrigation water to ensure it’s free from contaminants
Come spring, our farming partners introduce Charlotte's Web™ proprietary hemp genetics—developed through non-GMO, natural breeding techniques—to their soils. These include but are not limited to:
-
CW1AS1 – Our flagship cultivar, grown primarily in Colorado, delivers consistent, high-quality hemp used in our Original Formula and other full-spectrum extracts (17mg and 60mg).
-
Duchess and Ambassador – Suited for cool climates and shorter growing seasons, as they’re early-maturing.
-
Kirsche – Rich in natural plant compounds and strong resistance to diseases. Its strong, well-balanced growth—with plenty of flowers compared to stems—makes it ideal for mechanical harvesting.
-
Lindorea – Originally developed for the Kentucky climate. It's specifically bred for wetter climates with fungal threats, such as the Appalachian region and the Pacific Northwest.
While the majority of farms sow and germinate the seeds in a greenhouse prior to planting, others plant seeds directly into the ground. Over summertime, the hemp plants—powered by sun and soil—grow tall.
Throughout the growing season, each plant is monitored by our team of agronomists and chemists. Once fall arrives, the flowering parts of the plant are harvested, either mechanically or by hand, but always with care.
Fun Fact: Hemp plants are not marijuana—they contain 0.3% THC or less, delivering the benefits without the buzz.
Second Act: Trusted Manufacturing
Following the harvest, the hemp material is tested for biological contaminants for cleaner extracts.
Depending on the product, our extraction methods are a bit different. For example:
-
Our Original Formula Oil goes through isopropyl alcohol (IPA) extraction to carefully pull out a full array of hemp plant compounds.
-
Other products, like our hemp Gummies, undergo CO2 extraction, in which pressurized CO2 isolates the hemp plant's compounds.
Products like our Original Formula Oil and Sleep Gummies are full-spectrum, containing plant-based terpenes, flavonoids, cannabinoids, and trace amounts of THC. Others, like our Restful Sleep, Muscle Recovery, and Brain Support gummies, are broad-spectrum. That means they contain the same beneficial plant compounds but undergo extra processing to remove THC.
Because we’re laser-focused on quality, the extract is tested again for potency and composition, which includes:
- Phytochemical content
- Pesticides
- Heavy metals
- Residual solvents
- Microbial contamination
Once passed, the hemp is labeled by batch to ensure accurate dilution during product formulation and packaged for you.
Just like that.

Third Act: Assured Quality
Charlotte's Web™ began with a single mission: to help a little girl named Charlotte Figi find support when nothing else worked. That purpose demanded the highest quality—from the soil the hemp was grown in to the final drop of extract.
Today, that same uncompromising standard drives everything we do. Charlotte's Web™ products are:
- Vegan
- Gluten-free
- Free from preservatives and BPA
- Made in an FDA-registered facility that meets current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)
- Compliant with American Herbal Products Association's (AHPA) contaminant guidelines and specifications for Good Quality
As a certified B Corporation, Charlotte’s Web™ isn’t just in the business of wellness—we’re setting the stage for what wellness can be. That little “B” means big things: we’re audited on how we grow our hemp, how we treat our employees, how we source our ingredients, and how we show up for the planet.
It's a certification that holds us accountable—to do better, be better, and keep setting the standard in US-grown hemp.
Fun Fact: Charlotte’s Web is on the ground, engaging with policymakers to push for federal regulation and continued research to ensure everyone in the U.S. can access safe, high-quality hemp products.
Final Act: Trusted Wellness
Quality isn’t optional at Charlotte's Web™–it’s just common sense.
